In spring 2027, a Nepali-led team will carry a single climate-awareness message, “Back to Nature, Save the Earth, Go Green, Kill Global Warming”, to the summit of Mount Everest, alongside measurable environmental work. The expedition is initiated and led by Sherpa Nima Dorchi, a Nepali mountaineer and a Hong Kong permanent resident. Through him, this global act of climate stewardship carries a genuine Hong Kong connection, and we would be honoured to give Hong Kong a permanent place in the story.
The offer
After the climb, the message banner carried to the highest point of Everest and recovered from the mountain will be offered to an authorised Hong Kong entity (a government body, museum, university, or environmental or youth association) to be preserved and publicly displayed as a permanent record of a Hong Kong-linked contribution to global climate awareness.
What the banner is
- The expedition’s message banner, carried to the summit of Mount Everest.
- Recovered and brought back down. As a matter of principle, nothing is left on the mountain.
- A tangible, one-of-a-kind artefact of a climate-awareness milestone, ready to inspire visitors, students and the public.
Why it matters for Hong Kong
- A visible, lasting symbol of Hong Kong’s association with real climate action, on the world’s most recognisable mountain.
- A focal point for public climate awareness, education and youth engagement in Hong Kong.
- 1,500–2,000 kg of high-altitude waste recovered
- ~2,000 native trees restored
- 36 months of monitoring, with honest, independently verified reporting
Who we invite, and how
We invite Hong Kong’s environmental, cultural, academic and youth institutions to receive and display the banner, and to endorse or collaborate on the awareness and educational activity around it.
This is an opportunity to take part, not a request for funding.
We would gladly present the full plan and discuss how your organisation could be involved.
